Finding Opportunity Where It Exists—It’s the Challenge of This Day

Travel and transportation will not be the same anytime soon, or ever again. For instance, will you ride the subway, a bus, or train to work once the ALL CLEAR is given? Or will you find another way?

If you’re on the “other way” page, you might consider a new electric scooter from Mongoose, the mountain bike manufacturer.

With people seeking alternative means of transport, it’s a good time for this new product push from Mongoose. “Launching the Mongoose React electric scooters moved our brand into a new market,” says Kevin Garczynski, Mongoose Brand Manager. “Doing this requires the right message to maintain brand integrity and inspire a new audience of consumers.”

Inspired by Mongoose’s BMX authority, the film is a nod to 1980s cinema. Director Jeff Bednarz and Co-Director/Editor Sai Selvarajan shot the mini-film at the Salt Flat Cafe in the Guadalupe Mountains between Van Horn and El Paso. The scene was perfectly desolate and a great fit for the effect the co-directors were seeking to capture.

“The idea sprung from the notion of it being a 30-year storm – the storied history of Mongoose – that creates this Electrified moment,” says Selvarajan. “It was a next-level collaboration for me and Jeff, working side-by-side as a directing duo. We built on the successful teamwork of our past projects to evolve something new.”

Here’s a question on millions of minds, including the minds of anyone who depends on tourism for income: When will we achieve a new normal that includes safe travel?

The video above lacks in persuasion, but I share it for the message it provides.

“Tourism Drives Recovery,” is true in a purely economic sense. But it makes no sense at all in the macro view, where public health and safety require that Americans take dramatic actions to reduce and eventually stop the spread of COVID-19.

Mississippi’s “Secret Coast” Is Calling

If/when we ever decide to behave like good neighbors and citizens at scale, and it’s not unreasonably dangerous to travel, I will more than happy to visit Mississippi.

Coastal Mississippi’s tourism group has the right tone and approach. If people are afraid to travel or visit a favorite destination, all bets are off.
