Fuck that.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Stephen King (@StephenKing) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenKing\/status\/928223718987485184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 8, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/twitter-280-character-tweets-donald-trump\/\">CNET<\/a>, &#8220;the move comes at an awkward time for Twitter, which has been facing criticism and pressure from shareholders, Congress, President Donald Trump and everyday people who use it. Among the most-discussed complaints have been concerns that the company negligently mishandled the daily harassment some people experience on its service and that it allowed propaganda on the platform that illegally influenced the 2016 presidential election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Why make this change, now or ever? Was there something missing from the original configuration? <\/p>\n<p>Aliza Rosen, Product Manager at Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/official\/en_us\/topics\/product\/2017\/tweetingmadeeasier.html\">argues<\/a>, &#8220;We are making this change after listening and observing a problem our global community was having (it wasn\u2019t easy enough to Tweet!), studying data to understand how we could improve, trying it out, and listening to your feedback.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Her boss has more:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is a small change, but a big move for us. 140 was an arbitrary choice based on the 160 character SMS limit. Proud of how thoughtful the team has been in solving a real problem people have when trying to tweet.
