And people <em>are<\/em> hungry all over this land of opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Food banks, churches, and charitable organizations from coast to coast are addressing this epic American problem, which echoes through the decades. During the Great Depression, our citizens stood in bread and soup lines. Today, our citizens line up in their cars during the pre-dawn hours hoping to secure the essential food items they need to keep from going hungry.<\/p>\n<h2>A Texas-Sized Problem<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cIt was a rough one today,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/safoodbank.org\/\">San Antonio Food Bank<\/a> President and CEO Eric Cooper, in August, after the largest single-day distribution in the nonprofit\u2019s 40-year history. \u201cWe have never executed on as large of a demand as we are now.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"el__leafmedia el__leafmedia--sourced-paragraph\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-36038\" src=\"https:\/\/adpulp.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/San-Antonio-Food-Bank.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"920\" height=\"556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/San-Antonio-Food-Bank.jpg 920w, https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/San-Antonio-Food-Bank-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/San-Antonio-Food-Bank-768x464.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">\u201cIt looked like prairie dogs out there, with all the people standing on top of their trucks, trying to get an eagle-eye view of the line to see how much longer they had to wait,\u201d said Brian Billeck, marketing manager at Traders Village in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ntfb.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North Texas Food Bank<\/a> in Dallas is also inundated with need. NTFB distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food for about 25,000 people last Saturday, according to spokeswoman Anna Kurian.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Forty percent of the folks coming through our partners&#8217; doors are doing so for the first time,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/11\/15\/us\/dallas-texas-food-bank-coronavirus\/index.html\">she said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>How A Simple Craker Can Help<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-36031\" src=\"https:\/\/adpulp.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/TRISCUIT___COMMUNITY-e1606167457579.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/TRISCUIT___COMMUNITY-e1606167457579.png 825w, https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/TRISCUIT___COMMUNITY-e1606167457579-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/TRISCUIT___COMMUNITY-e1606167457579-768x399.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>TRISCUIT, a brand known for its woven, whole grain wheat crackers, announced the launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=2990206-1&amp;h=3992004613&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.triscuit.com%2FMissingIngredients%2F&amp;a=The+Missing+Ingredients+Project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">The Missing Ingredients Project<\/a>, the brand&#8217;s first-ever purpose-driven effort to help increase access to the variety of affordable, fresh foods lacking in food deserts. Through this initiative, <strong>TRISCUIT is committing <span class=\"xn-money\">$1 million<\/span> in grant funding over the next three years<\/strong> to find and support individuals and non-profit organizations who are developing innovative ways to advance access to a variety of fresh, nourishing food in food deserts across <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Food Deserts All Over this Land<\/h2>\n<p>According to the United States Department of Agriculture, approximately 19 million people, or 6.2 percent of <span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> population, live in food deserts.
