Sin importar qui\u00e9n gane el partido de hoy, el aguacate producido en Michoac\u00e1n es ya el verdadero triunfador de la noche. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8pQBIfkDtL\">pic.twitter.com\/8pQBIfkDtL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alfredo Ram\u00edrez Bedolla (@ARBedolla) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ARBedolla\/status\/1493014679148535810?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I like the confidence and I love avocados, but I don&#8217;t like burying the lede with PR puffery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the lede:<\/strong> The U.S. on Friday <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/world-nation\/story\/2022-02-13\/u-s-suspends-mexican-avocado-imports-on-eve-of-super-bowl\">suspended all avocado imports<\/a> from Michoac\u00e1n, the only Mexican state-approved for avocado exports, after a U.S. plant inspector there received a threatening phone call.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension will remain in place \u201cfor as long as necessary to ensure the appropriate actions are taken\u201d to guarantee the safety of employees in Mexico, Suzanne Bond, a spokesperson for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, said.<samp class=\"EmbedCode-container\"><code class=\"EmbedCode-code\"><\/code><\/samp><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/parallels\/2018\/02\/02\/582086654\/mexicos-avocado-capital-says-it-s-kicked-cartels-off-the-farm\">For years<\/a>, criminal groups have fought for control of the avocado trade, extorting orchard owners and illegally seizing land to grow their own groves, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/story\/2022-02-14\/avocado-suspension-mexico-michoacan-california-farmers-supply\"><em>LA Times<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mexico exports 80% of its avocado supply to the United States, according to the USDA.<\/p>\n<h2>The Brand&#8217;s Super Bowl LVI Spot<\/h2>\n<p>Can you imagine the stress that this ban on avocado exports created for the leaders of the trade group, Avocados from Mexico? The brand just invested millions in a Super Bowl LVI spot. And then their product disappears from supermarket shelves?
