Media Matters, a not-for-profit organization, has since been sued by Musk and &#8220;investigated&#8221; by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2023\/11\/20\/texas-ken-paxton-elon-musk-media-matters\/\">Texas Attorney General&#8217;s office<\/a>, ostensibly for doing their job well.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk\u2014like any American eighth-grader who ought to know better\u2014sees the infringement on his company&#8217;s earnings as a violation of his <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/constitution\/amendment-1\/\">First Amendment <\/a>rights*. That&#8217;s not what The U.S. Constitution says about freedom of speech. In addition, he claims that he&#8217;s being blackmailed by the advertisers. To complicate the matter, the billionaire megalomaniac showed up at a media industry event and used the opportunity to run down his platform&#8217;s former advertisers, in a foul-mouthed, vindictive, intentionally personal tirade.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U_M_uvDChJQ?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Yet, I wonder if Bob Iger or any of the other advertisers had their feelings hurt by Musk&#8217;s rant. I also wonder if running Twitter into the ground was always the plan (maybe not Musk&#8217;s plan, but<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2022\/nov\/03\/saudi-twitter-investment-us-national-security-risk\"> someone&#8217;s plan<\/a>, nevertheless).<\/p>\n<p>While I don&#8217;t want to dwell on what this rich man might think, I am intrigued by Musk&#8217;s reference to Earth in this context. <span class=\"x193iq5w xeuugli x13faqbe x1vvkbs xlh3980 xvmahel x1n0sxbx x1lliihq x1s928wv xhkezso x1gmr53x x1cpjm7i x1fgarty x1943h6x xudqn12 x3x7a5m x6prxxf xvq8zen xo1l8bm xzsf02u\" dir=\"auto\" lang=\"en\">\u201cLet\u2019s see how Earth responds to that,\u201d he says when challenged by Andrew Ross Sorkin. Does he mean <em>the people of Earth<\/em> are on his side and want more ads from Disney, et al? Or does he mean the actual planet (that he seemingly wants to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/musk-and-bezos-offer-humanity-a-grim-future-in-space-colonies\/\">rocket<\/a> away from) is on his side?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In other news from Musk&#8217;s special orbit, Tesla released its Cybertruck on Thursday after much delay and a lot of hype.
