It&#8217;s a topic we continue to cover <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adpulp.com\/category\/ageism\/\">in these pages<\/a> and a problem that lingers like the vilest of stenches.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, some of the industry&#8217;s smartest people are working on solutions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/janeelondon\/\">Jane Evans<\/a>, author of <a href=\"https:\/\/bookshop.org\/p\/books\/invisible-to-invaluable-unleashing-the-power-of-midlife-women-carol-russell\/17415955?ean=9780349428598\"><em>Invisible to Invaluable: Unleashing the Power of Midlife Women <\/em><\/a>and founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/uninvisibility.com\/\">Uninvisibility<\/a>, says, &#8220;It\u2019s safe to say that women over 50 in the industry are as rare as unicorn tears and Black women are almost completely non-existent. That needs to change! Now!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Evans, in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/brixtonfinishingschool.org\/\"><span class=\" transition-all duration-500 font-barlow inline text-lbb_black text-size_24_28 \">Brixton Finishing School <\/span><\/a>and WPP, is working to make these changes with <a href=\"https:\/\/visiblestart.com\/\"><strong>Visible Start<\/strong><\/a>. The program&#8217;s purpose is to prepare midlife women for jobs in advertising and provide &#8220;a<span id=\"fancy-title-7\" class=\"mk-fancy-title simple-style jupiter-donut- libre-font color-single\"> complete support system for women who are designing the second half of their lives.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q7VypXdp_Sk?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In an industry with all sorts of portfolio programs and other funnels for talent acquisition, it&#8217;s refreshing to see a training program meant to <em>keep<\/em> valuable workers and bring back those who&#8217;ve already left the premises.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/lbbonline.com\/news\/women-over-50-in-advertising-are-as-rare-as-unicorn-tears\">Little Black Book<\/a><\/em> interviewed Evans about the need for the new program, which is free to attend. She said, &#8220;Marketing 101 states that you advertise to the youth to gain brand loyalty. That was true in our mother\u2019s time but totally wrong today.
