Toxicity has even seeped into entire industries. <\/p>\n<p>As a result, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virginactive.co.uk\/\">Virgin Active<\/a>, a chain of health clubs in the U.K and beyond, is calling on people to <strong>rebel against the toxicity of the wellness industry<\/strong> in a new global campaign from Amsterdam-based agency <a href=\"https:\/\/wearepi.com\/project\/virgin-active\">We Are Pi<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The new direction for the brand is<em> not<\/em> timid. It&#8217;s playful, but Virgin Active ain&#8217;t playin&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jFXlhnHQr_E?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Gabi Mostert, Group Creative Director at Virgin Active, says, \u201cSquaring up to toxic wellness in an entertaining way that\u2019s designed to spark conversation and public scrutiny. Our message is simple. We\u2019re f*cking sick of it too. Come to one of our clubs, have a smoothie, move your body, lie in the sauna, whatever. Forget the noise and come as you are. Eloise Hendy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/wellness-scams-goop-pseudoscience-b2260871.html\"><em>The Independent<\/em><\/a>, for one, writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The entire concept of wellness is founded on the idea that just because you aren\u2019t sick, it doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re not unwell. This means that the wellness industry relies on widespread sections of the global population regarding themselves as unhealthy, along with wealthy, well-heeled women diagnosing themselves as not up to scratch \u2013 then splashing the cash to try and fix it. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A fitness club might be easily grouped within the wellness category.
